A colorful species with dark purple legs. Often appears early in the season after the first heavy midsummer rain. Larval habitat: grass fields and ground pools Adult habitat: Found in fields and yards but prefers wooded areas. Can often be found in the northern parts of the county near wooded areas. Biting activity: Anytime when disturbed but prefers the early morning or late afternoon. Flight range: 5-10 miles |
