It is the dominant of our Anopheles species. It can be found year round but prefers the colder months. Predominately found in marshes on the west end of Galveston and Bolivar Peninsula. Prefers livestock over humans and can often be found nears farms. Larval habitat: Breeds in grass fields, rice fields, retention ponds, detention ponds, and marshes. Adult habitat: grass fields and marshes Biting activity: dusk, dawn, and night Flight range: less than a mile |
