One of the most widespread mosquitoes in the world. Distinguished by the white bands that resemble b's on the abdomen. Can be found year round but are predominate in the cooler months. During the winter it replaces Aedes sollicitans as the dominate floodwater species. Larval habitat: grass fields and ditches Adult habitat: yards, fields, and wooded areas Biting activity: It usually bites during night, dusk, or dawn, however, it will also bite during the day in shaded areas. Flight range: 5-10 miles |
