Commonly known as the "Black Salt Marsh Mosquito". They can become abundant after high tides or after a combination of high tides and heavy rains. Our surveillance inspectors often encounter this species during the day.

Larval habitat: Similar to Aedes sollicitans, it can be found breeding in marshes and ditches.

Adult habitat: Found in marshes, yards, and wooded areas. Can be found anywhere with in the county where ditches or yards flood.

Biting activity: They prefer to bite during the early morning and late afternoon, however, resting females will actively bite during the day if disturbed.
