BAY AREA COUNCIL ON DRUGS & ALCOHOL

BACODA's mission is to help individuals, families and communities stop alcohol/drug abuse and addiction.  We accomplish this through community involvement, education, outreach, prevention, intervention, screening and referral.  Help is just a phone call away.

The Healing FieldŽ program started out as a way to commemorate the lives of those lost to us on September 11, 2001. Since the first Healing Field display in 2002, hundreds of communities across America have hosted a Healing Field or Fields of Honor to raise money and awareness for a growing array of causes.

These special displays of fields of American flags have helped to honor the sacrifice of our service men and women, raise awareness for the tragedy of child abuse or domestic violence, honor veterans past and present, raise awareness for heart disease and cancer and more.

From Patriot Day to Veterans' Day to declaring your own day to honor those currently serving in the armed forces, Healing Fields and Fields of Honor are making a difference all across this land. More uses and applications for a flag field event are being adopted each year.

November 9-14, 2009 BACODA will draw awareness to the fatal results of drunk driving with a Healing FieldŽ event. More information on the event will be posted soon. Contact Tonya Mathis at tonya.mathis@bacoda.com or at 281-212-2900 for additional information.

BACODA's Healing FieldŽ 2007 is featured on MyFox Houston. Click here to learn more about the event and its tremendous impact.

The Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol has been serving the Bay Area since 1974. A group of concerned citizens met and established an agency that continues today to address an issue that impacts the entire community. The most recent United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast’s survey found our communities most concerned about drug problems.

BACODA remains firm in its belief that chemically dependent individuals and their families can and do recover. BACODA offers a wide range of services to aid in the recovery process. Services are offered in a confidential setting. Low cost professional help is available close at home with BACODA’s trained staff and volunteers.

We want to thank everyone who helped to make BACODA's 2007 Healing Field Memorial a huge success.  Please go to BACODA's website for more information on the 2009 Healing Field to be held at Walter Hall Park in League City on November 9 - 14, 2009,and how you can get involved this year.  We need everyone's help to stop these senseless preventable deaths on our Texas roads.
